PSG, Man City target De Jong listening to offers but ‘no decision made yet’

The 21-year-old midfielder continues to be linked to a move to one of Europe’s top sides, but says he has not decided where he will play next term

Frenkie de Jong insists does not know where he will go at the end of the season but says Ajax have given him permission to start negotiations with other clubs.

The Ajax midfielder has emerged as one of Europe’s most sought after talents, with Barcelona and Manchester City heavily linked to him over the last few months. This week it was reported in the Netherlands that the 21-year-old is set to make a €75 million move to Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season, though his agent insists no deal has been agreed. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich have admitted he is on their radar.

And while De Jong, whose contract runs until 2022, admits he has been given him the all clear to start listening to offers, he says no decision has been made yet.

RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick has stated his uncertainty as regards signing Everton winger Ademola Lookman.

The Anglo-Nigerian impressed during his loan switch to the Red Bull Arena in January, scoring five goals and providing three assists in 11 appearances.

The Bulls made efforts to secure the signature of the 21-year-old permanently in the summer but the attempts were rebuffed as Marco Silva claimed the forward remains in his plan.

Manchester United full-back Matteo Darmian has hinted at a move back to Serie A, admitting he misses Italy.

The 29-year-old was signed from Torino in 2015 but has struggled to establish himself at Old Trafford, particularly falling out of favour under Jose Mourinho.

He has made just three appearances for the Red Devils this season and featured only eight times in the Premier League last term with the Portuguese boss favouring the likes of Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young as wing-backs.

Berbatov backs Lukaku amid United exit talk

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku is worth ‘more than just goals’ according to former Red Devils forward Dimitar Berbatov.

Recent reports have suggested that Lukaku could be on his way out of Old Trafford in the near future after what has been a disappointing campaign so far.

Juventus have been touted as a potential destination for the Belgian, but Berbatov believes United must keep hold of their star striker:

“Why do people concentrate on this [goalscoring drought]?” Berbatov said.

“Strikers are more than just goals now. How is that going to help Lukaku when there are constantly people saying how long he didn’t score a goal for.”

European giants monitor Brazilian starlets

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea and PSG have all sent scouts to the Ipiranga U20 International Cup to watch a number of young players from Internacional and Gremio, report Gauchazh.

Internacional players Jose Aldo and Bruno Jose are said to be of particular interest, as well as 19-year-old Gremio forward Da Silva, who is the competitions top scorer.

Liverpool are at risk of losing U23s striker Liam Millar on a free transfer as he nears the end of his contract at the club, report the Daily Mail.

Millar, 19, joined the Reds from Fulham in 2016 and is already a senior Canada international, having made four appearances for his country so far.

But it may be that the versatile forward seeks a new challenge in the new year, with clubs from Scotland, Netherlands and Belgium said to be keen, as well as teams from the Championship and MLS.

Dembele throws Barca future into doubt again

Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele could be in trouble with manager Ernesto Valverde after he turned up two hours late for training on Sunday, report Mundo Deportivo.

The France star, who continues to be linked with a move to the Premier League, scored in Barca’s 4-0 derby win over Espanyol on Saturday and was expected to be at the club’s training ground for a light session this morning.

But reports in Spain claim that Dembele is now in hot water with the Catalan giants having turned up two hours late and the club’s patience with the youngster is said to be wearing thin.

Bournemouth eye McGregor

Bournemouth are lining up a move for Callum McGregor to replace Lewis Cook, per The Sun.

Eddie Howe sent a scout to watch the Celtic midfielder play in the Betfred Cup final win over Aberdeen.

The Cherries are in the market for a midfielder after Cook was ruled out for nine months with a ruptured ACL.

‘New Kaka’ closes in on Milan move

Lucas Paqueta is closing in on a €35 million move to Milan from Flamengo.

The midfielder, dubbed the ‘new Kaka’, has touched down in Italy to undergo a medical at the club.

Defoe hints at January move

Jermain Defoe has hinted that he could leave Bournemouth in January.

The former Tottenham and Sunderland striker has struggled for game time under Eddie Howe, with Callum Wilson in sterling form, and he has admitted he could look for a new club at the turn of the year.

“I’m not playing football at the minute so we’ll see what happens,” he said, in quotes reported by the Sunderland Echo.

Manchester United are closing in on the signing of French youngster Noam Emeran, according to Metro.

The 16-year-old is highly-rated and is wanted by a number of elite European clubs, including Juventus and PSG.

United, though, have held talks over a compensation package for Emeran and are set to pay at least £1.8 million to secure his signature.

Spurs and Roma want Vilhena

Tottenham have joined Roma in the race to sign Tonny Vilhena in January, says Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian club is reportedly preparing a swap deal for the 23-year-old Feyenoord midfielder but Spurs want to hijack the move as they look to replace Moussa Dembele.

Blues show interest in Suarez

Chelsea are interested in Barcelona midfileder Denis Suarez, according to Calciomercato.

If the Blues secure Suarez’s services in January then Cesc Fabregas could be allowed to move to AC Milan.

The 24-year-old spent two years in England with Manchester City’s academy before returning to his homeland in 2013.

Chelsea plot £20m Hysaj bid

Chelsea are lining up a £20 million (€22m) bid for Napoli right-back Elseid Hysaj, per The Sun.

Blues boss Maurizio Sarri worked with Hysaj during his time in Serie A and is keen to bring him to London as he looks to bolster his squad.
