Kwara PDP Women Leader Accuses Abdulrazaq Government of Worsening Poverty in Kwara

The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticized the policies of the current administration, accusing it of deepening poverty and worsening food insecurity, particularly among women. The party’s State Women Leader, Honorable Princess Segilola Abdulkadri, expressed concerns that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s leadership has neglected the essential needs of women and youth, leaving them vulnerable to economic hardship.

During an interactive engagement with young women in politics at the PDP’s state secretariat in Ilorin on Friday, Abdulkadri called on them to unite in support of the PDP as the 2027 elections approach. She underscored the need for a collective effort to bring an end to what she described as a period of misgovernance and economic decline.

Highlighting the dire situation, she stated that the administration’s policies have only heightened poverty, with women bearing the heaviest burden.

“Aside from the mega road projects that was done by Dr. Bukola Saraki, we did not really have any other tangible projects under this present administration. There are rural areas that are not accessible by car nor bike. The present administration has crippled the state economy.

“Even those who claim to be in government are not finding it easy. They only attend social functions, where they are often confined to a corner because of their own poor situation. This is the reality of this administration,” she stated.

Abdulkadri also took aim at the government’s approach to development, arguing that most of its projects cater to a privileged few while sidelining the majority, particularly low-income women and children who form the backbone of the state. She stressed that true progress must address the needs of everyday citizens rather than focusing on elite-driven initiatives that do little to alleviate widespread suffering.
