Fire Erupts at Lawyer Yusuf Alli’s Office in Ilorin, Swift Action Saves Building

A fire incident at Ghalib Chambers in Ilorin, Kwara State, owned by renowned legal practitioner, Barrister Yusuf Ali (SAN) was swiftly contained on Wednesday morning, preventing a major disaster.
The fire broke out around 9:22 a.m. at the law firm, situated in a building on Unity Road that accommodates approximately 80 offices.
According to the spokesman for the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, firefighters responded promptly after receiving an emergency call.
“Upon receiving the distress call, firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene and their swift intervention prevented further destruction.
“They contained the fire to a single office on the second floor of the two-storey building, which houses about 80 offices,” he said.
Hassan futher disclosed that preliminary findings attributed the cause of the fire to a power surge, which affected an air conditioning unit and some books within the office.
The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, extended sympathies to the law firm and urged the adoption of fixed fire prevention measures to enhance safety.
When National Pilot visited the premises around 11:03 a.m., staff members were seen working as usual, confirming that the situation had been swiftly contained with no significant impact on operations.
A staff member, who preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed the incident. “Yes, it happened, but it was minor. No life was lost. As you can see, we are all fine and working smoothly. We thank God”, she said, declining to give futher details.
