NBTE begins e-learning training at Kwarapoly

The National Board for Technical Education and M8 TIRE Project have commenced training of Kwara State Polytechnic staff in preparation for the commencement of e-learning in about 26 polytechnics in Nigeria.
According to the Director of Institute of Information Communication Technology, Mr. Lanre Akewusola, the training is meant to expose selected academic staff from all institutes to the rudiments of e-learning.
He added that the beneficiaries of the training are expected to in turn tutor other staff in their various departments on the program.
The pilot e-learning program will award national diploma in various courses, such as electrical/electronic, civil engineering, leisure and tourism, office technology management, hospitality management, among others.
Earlier, the Rector, Alh Mas’ud Elelu described the training as another milestone in the history of the premier tertiary institution of the state.
He enjoined the staff to take the training seriously, so as to be able to impact what they have learnt on other staff.
He thanked the Federal Government andย ย NBTE for the good gesture.
Meanwhile, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin has reconstituted its Vehicle/Motorcycle Loan Disbursement Committee.
Inaugurating the committee in his office recently, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Alhaji Mas’ud Elelu charged members to follow due process and ensure fair disbursement of loan amongst qualified staff.
Elelu urged them to ensure that staff are recommended after fulfilling all the necessary criteria as stated in the terms of reference given to them.
He stressed that although the polytechnic has limited resources, the sole aim is to ensure that the loan is spread across the various segments of the polytechnic.
He advised the members to discharge their duties diligently by ensuring that the scheme was not abused by staff as was the case in the past.
Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Mukaila Aremu, applauded the initiative of the management for reconstituting the committee and for finding them worthy to serve.
Aremu, who is also the Director, Institute of Applied Sciences in the polytechnic, promised that they would justify the confidence reposed in them.
