Armed Robbery: Kwara Police arrests 6 suspects

 

Men of Kwara State Police Command have nabbed four suspects over a robbery attack in Amoyo, a suburb of Ilorin, recently.

The arrested suspects are, Ajide Oluwaseun a fabricator; Idowu Adeniyi, marble construction worker; Olabode Emmanuel, student and Adekanola Adebayo, a farmer.

It was gathered that the suspects robbed and made away with a car, sophisticated phones, and jewelries among others valued at N2,397,000.

A police source divulged to our reporter that the case was reported at Ganmo police station by the victim, Ishola Oluwaseun.

The suspects were said to have broken into the home of the victim while the family was asleep.

“They robbed the victims at gunpoint. They robbed Oluwaseun of his car, Toyota Matrix with registration number J J J 48 FF valued at N1,560,000, Plasma TV valued at N280,000, Gold jewelries valued at N185,000 one Samsung CZ phone valued N145,000, one Samsung C5 Phone valued at N137,000 and one iPhone 6 valued at N92,000 among other valuables.

The source added that immediately, the case was reported, detectives from Ganmo police station went to the scene of the crime, where a gun was recovered.

“One cut-to-size locally made single barrel gun, one expended cartridge and one live cartridge dropped by the suspects while trying to escape were recovered at the scene.

“During investigation, the victims identified one Ajide Oluwaseun among the armed robbers who was unmasked. He was arrested and interrogated.

“During interrogation he revealed identities of the other suspects, which led to their arrest.

“Adekanola was nabbed in Osogbo and his arrest led to the recovery of the Toyota Matrix. Effort is on going to arrest other gang members who are presently at large,” he added.

In a related development, men of the Kwara Police Command have arrested four suspects for robbery.

The suspects are Mohammed Ahmed, Olorunferanmi Faramade, David Akanni and Gafar Ojulari.

They were said to have robbed their victim, Oyindamola Michael of Old Kara market, at gunpoint.

According to police source, the case was reported at Police Public Complaint Bureau, state Police headquarters by the victim.

“She was with her friend at home when the armed robbers invaded her house with dangerous weapons.

“The armed robbers robbed them of a generator, iPhone 6 handset, two small Nokia phones, two wrist watches valued at N274,000 and sum of N40,000.

“She said the robber further attacked other tenants and carted away one LG Android phone, one small Nokia phone and cash of N21,000.”

The source said investigation by the police led to the arrest of Ojulari found in possession of the stolen items.

“He gave lead that led to arrest of other suspects. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime, adding that the generator set valued at N34,000 was sold to Ojulari at the rate of N15,000, for which he paid N8,000 as advanced payment”

Speaking during the parade of the suspects last Tuesday, the state Commissioner of Police, Pai Aminu said the suspects will be charged to court after the investigation has been concluded.

He disclosed the arrest of one Kunle Oyedokun, who invaded the home of Mubaraq Lai Shuaib’s house at Harmony Estate, Ilorin.

The suspect with his gang members robbed the victim of his 4matic Mercedes Benz, one Samsung C 300 phone, clothes, shoes and cash sum of N170,000.

“Investigation by detectives led to the arrest of Oyedokun who took policemen to Ogbomosho where the stolen vehicle was recovered.”

The CP said effort is still in progress to arrest the other suspects and recover the remaining stolen items.
