The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday, constituted its gubernatorial campaign committee for the 2019 election, National Pilot, has exclusively gathered.
The committee was constituted after a marathon deliberation with the Senate President and national leader of the party, Dr Bukola Saraki, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed and the chairman of the PDP in the state, Engr Kola Shittu.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had last week, lifted the ban on political campaigns for the general election.
Speaking with our reporter last night, Engr Shittu said the committee for the election of the party’s guber candidate, Hon Razak Atunwa is headed by former minister of National Planning, Prof Abubakar Suleiman with three deputy Director General across the three sensorial districts in the state.
Former House of Assembly member, Hon Ladi Edun will serve as the Deputy DG for Kwara Central while former commissioner for Water Resources, Issa Bawa from Kaiama will deputise for Kwara North. In Kwara South, Hon Khaleel Bolaji will serve as the region’s deputy Director General.
He said “We have constituted the campaign for governorship, Mandate 2019. The DG is former Minister of National Planning, Prof. Abubakar Suleiman with three deputy Director-General for the three senatorial district in the state.
“For Kwara North, we have former commissioner for Water Resources, Issa Bawa, while Hon Ladi Edun will serve in that capacity for Kwara Central and Alhaji Khaleel Bolaji for Kwara South”.
He added that the committee will be inaugurated any time from today (Monday) because we are also going to choose directors who will be about 12 in number as part of the team.
