Market men and women in Ipata market, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Friday booed Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo who was in town to launch one of the social investment schemes of the Federal Government tagged TraderMoni.
But the event turned out to be a flop for the Vice-President who was hardly allowed to speak during the reception organised for him at the market.
Osinbajo could hardly say a word to the people as his voice was drowned by the shout of the market men and women who accused the APC led Federal Government of a sinister motive over the scheme.
The public address system that was meant to be used also malfunctioned leaving the Vice-President with no choice than to alight from the podium and made his way out of the market few minutes later.
Some of the reporters who attended the ceremony could hardly report anything from the Osinbajo angle during the incident that lasted about ten minutes.
Although the market men and women massed at the venue, they however highlighted the serious hardship the people are going through and the widespread hunger going on across the country.
They also used the occasion to complain bitterly about the hard economic condition going on in the country.
The traders and sellers most of whom spoke in Yoruba accused the Federal Government of using the scheme as a deception for the people adding that there is no money in the state and country because of the harsh economic policies of the federal government.
The reception for the Vice-President in Ilorin was a sharp contrast to his visit in other States.
According to the People, arowo ooo, gbogbo ilu lole koko mawa yi. Etanje in eleyi je lati owo ijoba. (There is no money and the situation in the country is very hard on us. This scheme is deception).
