Former Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi on Saturday spoke on his last gubernatorial ambition even as he rallied support for all candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across the country.
Abdullahi spoke in Ubandawaki, Ilorin West local government area during his meeting with the leaders and stakeholders of the party in the ward.
He was received at the event by scores of enthusiastic crowd with songs and dancing including youth and women who appreciated his continued support and contribution to the party.
The former Minister and immediate past National Scribe of All Progressives Congress (APC) called on Kwarans to vote for PDP candidates at all levels even as he campaigned for the House of Representatives candidate of the party for Ilorin West/Asa Federal constituency, Hon Rasaq Lawal.
He said โYour prayers for me have been answered and the reason can be deduced from the instance of the Umrah story of the Prophet (SAW).
โGod has promised us and we know His promise is not deception. Maybe the time we had hope it will happen was not the time decreed by Almighty Allah. It will come to pass in ourย time insha Allah and we should put the incident of gubernatorial contest behind us. Our time will come by Godโs grace.
โI can assure you that I will continue to give my best and support within my capacity. I want you all to vote for Atiku Abubakar, Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, governorship candidate, Razak Atunwa and House of Representatives candidate for Ilorin West/Asa, Rasaq Lawal and other candidates of the party across boards. โI will plead with the youths and women who are still embittered to let the past be the past. We are one big family and this is the time to vote en mass for the party to produce leaders from the top to the bottom.
On the House of Reps ticket for Rasaq Lwal, Abdullahi said โthis is the first time that I will follow any candidate for the House of Representative to Ubandawaki and I am confident that he will not disappoint youโ.
He said โI know water is the number one problem in this area. We used to go to Oke-Foma then to get water but that is no longer possible for a number of reasons. Last year, we dug two boreholes in Anifowose, this year, we will dig additional one in this area to compliment what we have before and ease the water problems in the areaโ, he added.
Bolaji had earlier through his Omoluabi Foundation donated souvenirs and books to the mandate 2019 office to support the party in the electioneering campaigns.
Some of the party leaders who responded expressed concern on the issue of political patronage adding that what they have contributed was not commensurate with the patronage.
They assured him that they will continue to support him and the party because the former minister has always been there for them.
