A visiting Imam at Agaka Central Mosque, Asa-Dam, Ilorin, Ustaz Mustapha Bunyameen has tasked Muslims to prepare themselves for the forthcoming month of Ramadan with the fear of Almighty Allah.
According to him, the month is meant for blessing and forgiveness and Muslims should make ultimate use of it for all-round spiritual growth and development.
He said this on Friday while delivering the sermon (Khutba) to herald the traditional two Rakat congregational prayers adding that Muslims should turn away from their evil deeds and focus on good deeds to attain the blessing of the month
“Muslims should stop habit of backbiting, drinking of alcohol, adultery, collecting of bribes and cheating. They should use the month to move closer to Allah and at the same time be honest in all their activities”.
The Imam described Ramadan as a market where everybody engage in transaction and profit making adding that only those who engage in meritorious deeds are rewarded by Almighty Allah at the end of the day.
He urged Muslims to read the Qur’an and follow its injunction as it is a treatment to the heart.
“Safeguard yourself from sins that can make you face the wrath of Allah and seek for forgiveness from Him by vowing not to return to the sin(s) again.
“If you are fasting, let your eyes, ears, tongue, limbs and legs fast with you, for you to be richly blessed and rewarded by Allah (SWT).
