The Kwara State Chess Association is set host the maiden edition of Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrasaq open chess competition.
The chess game, which scheduled to hold between 8th and 10th of August, 2019 is being organised to mark the 100 days anniversary of the state governor.
The tournament according to the organiser, Kwara Chess Association would feature both junior and senior categories from primary and secondary schools, as well as various chess clubs in the state.
The Chairman of the chess association, Rasheed Aiyelabegan said the competition is also targeted at fixing out the young talents from the grassroots, stating emphatically that big prizes are available for winners.
The opening ceremony of the tournament is expected to kick off on Thursday, 8th August by 11am at the Conference Room of the Kwara Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
