A Onetime member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Hon Nimota Ibrahim yesterday lost her father, Alhaji Imam Muhktar AbdulSalam. He was aged 90 years of age.
He was buried at the family’s compound, Okelele in Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State according to Islamic rites. The Janazah was led by the Imam Imale of Ilorin, Sheikh Abdullahi AbdulHamid.
Speaking on his death, Hon Nimota Ibrahim who is the eldest daughter said the incident of his death happened within 10 hours adding that he attended a function the day of his death.
According to her, the deceased was a real father figure for the family and encouraged her to aspire and always aim for the best all the time.
“He was my father, teacher and role model. He was always factual and blunt and can be described as a teacher, a preacher and a leader. He taught me to say the truth all the time even if it doesn’t go down well with anyone and was an asset to Islam and humanity who was absolutely a fulfilled individual. At the hospital, he told me if this was his final journey, Alhamdulillah. He was only sick barely a day and he is gone. Death is an inevitable end of man.
The two time lawmaker said he will miss his father’s guidance and prayers and his resolve to personally check on her in the early hours of the day adding that he impacted Islamic teachings and knowledge on numerous people.

Late AbdulSalam died at Med Care hospital along Pipe Line road, Ilorin. He was survived by 12 children.

The remains of Dr. Belawu Garba Gobir, the mother of former gubernatorial aspirant of the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Yakub Gobir, was buried according to Islamic rite on Saturday .
The Janazah prayer which took place at the politician’s residence, Umar Audi road, GRA, Ilorin, the Kwara state capital was attended by the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, representative of the Emir of Ilorin who is also the Seriki Salama, Alhaji Ayuba Gambari, Chiroma of Ilorin, Alhaji Abubakar Bature, APC stalwarts, Alhaji Musa Mayaki and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem among the personalities and party faithful.
The prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu and supported by some notable Islamic clerics, family and friends as well as lovers and admirers of Gobir family.
Others were a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo and other leaders of the party from across the state.
Hajia Belawu Gobir died on Friday (August 16, 2019) at the age of 78.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the interment, Alhaji Yakub GOBIR said the values of humility, quest for knowledge and generosity of Hajia Belawu Gobir would be missed by the family adding that she graduated with a PhD in Educational Administration from the University of Lagos at the age of seventy.
“One striking thing about the love and commitment of the deceased to education was that she bagged a PhD in Educational Administration from the University of Lagos at the age of 70. She taught us to also strive for knowledge, be selfless and be conscious of our integrity which has remained with us till this day. She was a proponent of girl child education and demonstrated it with her quest for knowledge despite her age. We will really missed her”, Gobir submitted.
