The Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Grooming Institute, Prince Ayodeji Ajisefini has said that the institute is on the verge of training about 8, 000 entrepreneur in Kwara State to become an employers of labour before December this year.
He stated this yesterday during a chart with newsmen in his office.
According to him, ‘presently we have trained about 1200 entrepreneur in Kwara State and hopefully before December, the numerical strength will be increase to 8,000.’
“Enterprise Grooming Institute (EGI) is in synergy with the Kwara State College of Education, hopefully between now and
December we want to train nothing less down 8,000 entrepreneurs that will access the Federal Government loan.
“The loan is meant for both start up and existing business owners. As a start up business owner, you can access up to 5 million naira and as an existing owner, you are entitled to 10 million naira,” Ajisefini said.
Continuing, ‘This loan is not a national cake. It is a 5% retention fees from the commercial banks. We are working on a megal training within Kwara State. We are targeting to train 10,000 business owners in Kwara State in collaboration with the Kwara State Government and some financial institutions.’
Ajisefini added that the way out of poverty in the 21st century is through entrepreneur.
“Poverty makes people to discovers themselves. Poverty makes people to know that enterprise is the only way out of poverty. Things has not been easy here in Kwara State. Economic situation in the state was so poor.
“The reason for high rate of unemployment among our graduates is because what they were taught was act of business, not business itself. There is different between entrepreneur and enterprise. What students were been taught in schools is an entrepreneur ways to do business.
“At Enterprise Grooming Institute, we make people to know that enterprise development is the way to doing business. Our school is a practical based centre. Our certificate is not meant to look for employment, rather to be liberated and become your own boss,” he stressed.
The EGI boss further said that the concept of the institution is just like the then Federal Government’s operation feed the nation as it meant to change the mindset of the people from agricultural system to agribusiness.
“The program is not only for the farmers. I want to change their mindset from agriculture to agribusiness. Also the working class salary is no more enough to sustain any household in Nigeria again.
“EGI concept is just like the days of operation feed the nation. That exactly what Enterprise Grooming Institute all about. We have centres in the 3 senatorial of Kwara State. Our certificate is for you to be your boss. We equally have centre is Osun State, Ekiti State, Ondo State, Lagos and in the northern state of the country,” he concluded.
