As the political momentum toward the next general elections beckons, the Kwara North Consultative Forum last Saturday met with potential governorship aspirants from the region, National Pilot learnt.
Recall this medium had earlier reported how prospective aspirants across party lines converged in the bid to have a consensus governorship candidates ahead of the 2023 general election in the state.
Reports has it that the Kwara North Consultative Forum had recently visited some key elders and stakeholders in Kwara Central and Kwara South to seek for their support for a Kwara northerner to become the next governor of the State..
At the special meeting, the leader of the Forum Comrade Abdullahi Lade appreciated God almighty for the forum’s journey so far and how the people of Kwara North put aside their political parties affiliations, religion and tribal differences aside to pursue a common interest that is for unity and progress of all Kwarans.
The leader of the group said he wish to thank the almighty for the birth and existence of this forum. What is happening today in Kwara North is beyond our imagination, it is only Allah that can do such wonders, That people of Kwara North from all nooks and crannies, devoid of tribe, religion, and political affiliation are willingly sitting together in love and trust discussing a common destiny of the land and its people, to say the least historic”.
He added that, Kwara North region is not in competition or unhealthy rivalry with other two regions, that the three regions are one big family and he described the demand for the power shift as a legitimate and humble one that is based on the tenet of justice, equity and fairness
“It is however pertinent to state at this level that the forum has resolved to pursue the cause of Kwara North from all well meaning Kwarans, not through violence nor unhealthy rivalry but through the principle of Justice, Equity and Fairness, that is the vehicle in which we the people of Moro, Kaiama, Edu, Baruten, and Patigi L.G.As have adopted to pursue our vision, it was this that gave rise to the slogan “KWARA NORTH FOR GOVERNOR 2023 IN SHA ALLAH.
“Kwara North, Kwara Central and Kwara South are one big family that can never be separated,that is why we are having family houses in Ilorin like Gbodofu, Kutijifu, Ile baruba, Ile Solati like many others, the same way Kwara northerners married from Share land, Offa, Erinle, Omuaran and other Kwara South towns
However, all the potential aspirants for the governorship seat appreciated the forum and all other stakeholders that are pushing for the power shift, the aspirants during their individual remarks pledged that they will be ready to offer full support to anyone of them who succeeded in clinching their party’s ticket for the race in 2023.
The Gubernatorial aspirants in attendance are; Honourable Aliyu Ahman Pategi from Patigi local government, a three term federal house of representatives member and Pro-Chancellor at Ahman Patigi University, Honourable Zakari Muhammed from Baruten local government, a former commissioner and two term federal house of representatives member, Alhaji Tajudeen Abdulkadir, Audu Makama from Edu local government, a business mogul and financial expert, Hon. Isa Bawa Adamu from Kaiama local government, a former commissioner and a seasoned politician, Barrister Abdullahi Saadudeen Alikinla from Moro local government, a legal practitioner and former commissioner, Comrade Abubakar Musa Shamaki from Kaiama, a former union leader.
Other aspirants include a former deputy speaker of the state assembly and former Nigerian ambassador to Japan, Professor Muhammed Gana Yisa from Patigi Local Government; a seasoned politician and business mogul, Alh. Shuaibu Abdullahi Yaman from Edu local government.
