The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has suspended Soun Township Stadium for a period of one-year over crowd violence.
The disciplinary committee of the NFF led by the Chairman, Musa Amadu took the decision after the hearing on Saturday at the Bolton White Apartments, Wuse Zone 7, Abuja.
It would be recalled that the last month’s Nigeria National League (NNL) fixture between Crown FC and Abia Comets in the Southern conference held in Ogbomoso ended in violence, as match officials and away team got injured after being attacked by irate fans.
The NFF verdict said: “Crown FC is hereby fined the sum of Two Million (N2,000,000.00) Naira for assault on Match Officials and the Away Team.
“That Adetunde Adewunmi (Team Manager), Alabi Jonathan (Physiotherapist), Mr.Kazeem (welfare officer) and players Adeniyi Adejare, Gbadomasi Fatai and Onukwube Samuel are hereby banned from participating in all NFF –organized competitions for a period of one year for participating in the assault of Match Officials .
“That Soun Township Stadium is hereby banned from hosting any NNL League Match for 2017/2018 Season.
“That Crown FC is hereby banished from Soun Township Stadium for a period of One (1) year. They may elect to play their home matches in any Stadium within Abeokuta or outside Abeokuta.
“That Crown FC should pay the total sum of One Million and Fifty Thousand (N1,050,000) Naira, being compensation to Match Officials on items damaged as well as Cameras of the Away Team.
“That Crown FC should pay the sum of Five Hundred Thousand (N500,000.00) Naira, being medical bills for both Match Officials, Abia Comets FC players and Officials assaulted.
“That the Committee wishes to state that the above decisions are without prejudice to the right of appeal”.
