A clergyman, Pastor Gideon Majekodunmi of Vine Parish, Provincine 3 of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has stated ways Christians can surmount the vicissitudes of life.
In a sermon titled ‘Bring me out of my miry clay,’ he said believers can use their talents to solve life’s problems.
Alluding to a Biblical passage, Pastor Majekodunmi said “Use your gift to bring yourself out of your problem because the Bible says the gift of a man will make a way for him. God has given everyone a gift.”
While describing miry clay as persistent life challenges, he said another way out, is for Christians to have salvation and trust in God.
“For God to pull your out of miry clay or the horrible pit, you must be saved by giving your life completely to Jesus. You also need to put your trust in God and no one else for solution to your problems.
“Miry clay is when one is in a pitiable state; going in and out of problems. When you are faced with tough time and there is no help. It is called the wilderness experience,” he explained.
The cleric cited Biblical Joseph as someone who had three experiences of miry clay in his lifetime and overcame them all.
According to him, Joseph was thrown into the pit by his brothers and when help came his way, he was again sold into slavery, adding that his third experience was when he was imprisoned.
The cleric noted that some people have been sentenced to a life of miry clay by their enemies, saying that God is capable of delivering them from the snare of the fowler.
He cited example of Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego who were thrown into the furnace as well as Daniel in the lions den and were delivered by God.
He further said Christians must be prayerful.
so as to be delivered from spiritual horrible pit, noting that those in that situation would not be able to fulfill destiny.
The cleric encouraged believers to be of good faith when faced with challenges, saying God did not promise Christians a life without problems.
“When one lacks God’s help you will struggle.
It is only God that help you. You will face challenges but God will deliver you from afflictions of life,” he further stated.
