Following the release of Dorcas Oluwatimelehin Olanrewaju by kidnappers, Friday morning, the 200 level student of Kwara State University(KWASU), Malete is presently undergoing psycho therapy treatment at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, (UITH), Ilorin, National Pilot has learnt.
Dorcas was reportedly kidnapped 11:30 am last Thursday while going for her first semester examination but was later set free by her abductors early Friday.
Speaking on the incident yesterday, the father of the victim, Olanrewaju Olayiwola, who is also the chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists Correspondents Chapel, said Dorcas after her freedom was taken to Olaolu Medical Centre for treatment but was referred to UITH for psycho therapy.
“The doctor advised us to take her there so that, the psycho therapist can counsel against any psychological effect in the future.”
He added that his daughter will be travelling to the Redemption camp, Mowe with him for deliverance saying, “I don’t know what they could have used to hypnotise her. Presently she is at our pastor’s residence receiving prayers at Redeemed Church of God, Agbabiaka area.”
On how he learnt about the sad incident, Olayiwola said, Dorcas’ friend put a call to Olamide, brother of the victim that she had been kidnapped, adding that she (the friend) got text message to that effect.
“Olamide rushed home from office and we headed to Malete around 9pm on Thursday.”
Olayiwola stated that he lodged a complaint at Malete Police Station, where they claimed they had sent the victim’s mobile number to the headquarters for tracking.
“Up to 12 am, there was no trace of my daughter. The DPO sent for the Malete community vigilante to work in collaboration with the police in checking abandoned buildings yet, all efforts proved abortive.
“We left the community around 1am but I returned to Malete on Friday to know if they already have information or discover her whereabouts but nothing positive came out.”
He added that he also informed the DSS and other security agencies of the situation.
“On Friday morning, I called one of the DSS officers and I was told the kidnappers are not for ransom but ritualist and that they have been able to track them to Offa. But they couldn’t get her number tracked down again may be her mobile phone battery was down.
“Just as I was about to enter the Commissioner of Police, Ado Lawan’s office, I received a call from one of my sisters in Omu-Aran that my daughter had been found, adding that she could not talk but kept weeping.
“I instructed her not to allow anyone to take her anywhere not until I’m around. I then called the DPO Malete and the Chief Security Officer of KWASU to join me on the trip to Omu-Aran. Luckily, we met her there and we drove her to Ilorin.”
The text message the victim sent to her friend while in the kidnappers’ den, read: ” please pray for me as I don’t know where I am, I have been kidnapped by ritualist, after seeing (sic) my course reg had take a cab in front of my hostel as the bike man that took me home can’t wait to take me back that’s all I know that is bro Olamide number help me tell him”
