IBB speaks on PDP convention, Atiku’s defection

Former Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida, last night broke his silence concerning the defection of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Babangida said there was nothing wrong with the former Vice President moving from one party to another, adding that the constitution allowed it.
Atiku officially dumped the ruling APC last week citing alleged impunity and failure of the party to fulfil numerous campaign promises and failure to provide employment for the country’s teeming youth.
He said “Atiku is a Nigerian, he is allowed to go to any party and our constitution allows it, so, it is not new and there is nothing wrong for politician to move from one party to another.”
Babangida disclosed this during a visit on Wednesday by Gov Okowa, Ahmed Makarfi, and top officials of the party at his home in Minna, Niger State ahead of the party’s National Convention on Saturday.
He also assured that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led convention organising committee of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, will conduct a best, free and fair convention come Dec. 9th.
“I have here, the chairman of the caretaker committee, former chairman of Kaduna State, the Chairman of convention planning committee, the Governor of Delta State with the officials for the convention.
“I am glad they are working hard and I have seen that they want to make sure that the convention of the PDP is rancour free, transparent and everybody will be given a level playing ground.
“PDP will see one of the best conventions like never before,” IBB added?
