Ilorin West LG chair: Only Saraki has final say – Baraje

A former aide to the Kwara a State Governor, Alhaji Biodun Baraje has said only the dynasty in the state under the political leader of the party and Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki can determine who will emerge the candidate for the local government election in the state scheduled for November 4.

Baraje who was reacting to media report regarding his alleged aspiration to contest for the forthcoming council elections in the state maintained there is already a system in place for those vying for political contest under the APC.

In a statement on the issue signed by him Wednesday in Ilorin and sent to Pilot Politics, Baraje who denied the report called on the general public to disregard it.

He said although he is not in a position to speak for the party at whatever levels, either local government or state, “but as a stakeholder in Magajin Geri constituency, he needs to make the clarification.

He said he was not aware of any meeting in the constituency where some names included his own, emerged among those willing to contest the chairmanship of Ilorin West Local government in the forthcoming local government election in the state.

According to the former Special Assistant on Rural Water to the state governor, “there is a tradition within the system in Kwara State where processes are thrown out for various positions under the complete machinery of the Senate President and leader of the party in the state, Dr Bukola Saraki.

“This system will be set in motion by the Senate President when the time arises. I therefore appealed to the general public to disregard in its entirety.

 


…we’ll generate N5m daily from solid minerals in Kwara if elected – YDP

The Kwara State chairman of Young Democracy Party (YDP), Alhaji Abdullahi Bada has stated that the party will drastically improve the economy of the state if elected in the forthcoming local government election.

Speaking during an interview with Pilot Politics on the council electionBada said the huge mineral deposit in the state if well manage can generate as high as N5million daily which will be deployed to cater for the wellbeing of the citizens.

He promised that if YDP candidate emerge as any of the local government chairmen, any allocation given to the local government through federal will be used to fix problems at that level and  also carried out dividends of democracy.

‘There are some local governments that have more than 28 solid mineral resources in Kwara state. That can be used to drive the state economy to the better level.

“These mineral resources have the capacity to generate N5milion naira on daily basis if they are well utilised. These mineral resources have been ignored for a very long time and our mission is to revive it to boost the economy of the state and create job opportunities for the teeming youths.

He said the party if elected at the national level in 2019 will revisit the national development plan

Hear him: It’s high time Nigeria stop addressing 24 century challenges with 18 century approaches. Our party will put 24 century people who are very intelligent to make them part and parcel of the factors that will drives the economy.

‘The way a young man will think will be different from the way somebody that’s old age will think and these are the people that can better drive the economy of this country.  Youths are the people that can cause problem for the country when they are unemployed and they have higher rate of crime.

“But we will gainfully employed them in different sectors of national development. ‘The youths are currently being under-utilised, their potential are been destabilised.

Youth of today are being turned to parasite we are more less like consumers   of resources we don’t use our brain. We are going to put the youths into some training exercise, teach them on how to be productive and revive agriculture, industrial sector, and manufacturing.

“Our party if emerge as ruling party will look into oil and gas sectors and also address the issue of electricity that will attracts investors, among others”, he added.
