Futures Star lift 11th   Commissioner of Police U-13 Cup

 

Futures Stars FC of Ilorin on Thursday walloped Champions FC 4-1 to win the 2017 Commissioner of Police U-13 soccer tournament held at the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

Meanwhile, Flash Bomber claimed the third place trophy with a 5-4 victory, via penalty shootout over Oloyede Babes after a 1-1 draw at regulation time.

The Future kids dominated  the proceedings of the game, scoring goals for fun in the final of the soccer tournament organised by the state chapter of Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON).

Two goals from Olorunyomi Junior and one each from Ojo Success and Mark Asanti gave the Futures  boys a deserved victory.

Alao Ibrahim scored the consolation goal for the champions boys, who fought hard in the final match.

Speaking at the final match, the representative of the state Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed who was represented by the Commissioner for Information, Babatunde Ajeigbe thanked sponsor, Kwara Police Command for promoting sports in the state.

Ajeigbe, who described sports as a unifying factor that promote peace and unity, also thanked the organisers for engaging the youths in sporting activities.

In his address, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Admin), Fave Semali said they sponsored the competition to encourage children’s participation in sports, as well as keeping them away from the streets.

Semali however reiterated the command’s commitment to continuing the sponsorship of the competition for the benefit of the children.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of Kwara YSFON, Prince Ademola Kiyesola commended the Kwara Police Command for sustaining the competition for over 10 years.

Kiyesola appealed to other security agencies to emulate the gesture of police by sponsoring more sporting events to complement the efforts of the state government in promotion of sports.

Olorunyomi Junior won the most valuable player of the tournament that featured trams across the state.
