‘Inability to pay schools fees pushed me into business’

Andrew Jasini, a graduate of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, is an  IT expert.

The Chief Executive Officer of Access Computers said he had challenge raising school fees in his final year as an undergraduate, which made him embrace business in 2009.

“During my final year at the university, I had challenge in paying my school fees hence I have to stay an extra year in school. I, however, spent that time focusing on growing my business and was able to raise money for the next session.”

According to him, he discovered his skills for computer repairs at a tender age, which prompted him to read widely about different accessories and assisting his elder sister to sell gadgets.

“I developed interest in reading the manual of phones at my sister’s shop along Unity road, Ilorin. So, whenever a customer purchased a phone and he or she is confused on how to operate it, I used to put them through.

“While assisting people to fix their handsets, some of them give me money and I became interested in realising my dream. So I started my business and people begun to patronise me.

“My sister’s shop was to my advantage as people were directed to me for the repair of their gadgets.”

To budding entrepreneurs, he advised them never to give up, adding that failure is the way to success.

“When you fail, it is meant to strengthen you, don’t  give up as it will propel you to greater heights,” he stressed.

He stated that business and entrepreneurship development should be encouraged and youths should not place their hope solely on white  collar  jobs.

Access Computers is into repairs of software and hardwares, sales of laptops and other accessories.
