Ilorin West inaugurates legislative council

Ilorin West local government council on Wednesday sworn-in its Vice Chairman, Alhaji Muhammed Saliu Yusuf and members of the legislative council.
The brief ceremony which took place at the council’s secretariat, Wara, was witnessed by the new council chairman, Hajia Aminat Aromoke Omodara and other members of council.
Delivering her speech, Omodara noted that the occasion expresses the council’s intention for a genuine democracy and advised the staff to put the episode of the last election behind and move the party forward.
She assured that her administration will fulfil electioneering campaigns in order to accelerate the social-economic lives of the people.
According to her, efforts shall be tailored towards provision of portable drinking water, good roads networks, education, women empowerment, health and staff welfare among others to improve the living standard of the people and complement the giants strides of the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.
She urged the APC and PDP councillors in the council to exhibit good sportsmanship spirit as demonstrated by members of the National Assembly and cultivates the spirit of team work.
“Although the (local government) election poses a serious challenge with several hurdles across the twelve wards, the strange occurrence bothered the mind of all of us because the whole episode that characterised the election was a strange one, not only to the Ilorin Emirate but to the entire political arena. Yet it was a challenge perceived to be reaction of the unemployed youth and dejected members of our party who were desperately affected by the current social economic problem economics problem of the country vis-a-vis unemployment and non payment of salary arrears. Now that the whole episode is over, the task ahead is correction through reconciliation with a view to avert future reoccurrence.”, the added.
Responding, the councillor of Oko-Erin ward, Alhaji Ayinla Taiye Hassan, described the event as one that would usher good governance and promised synergy to move the council forward.
Other sworn-in members include Imam Yusuf (Alanamu), Mustapha Garuba (Ojueku/Sarumi), Yusuf Tunde Lawal (Ubandawaki), Ajao AbdulRasaq (Ajikobi), Busari Murtala (Ogidi), Zikrullah AbdulKareem (Oloje), Abaya Yusuf Alabi (Magaji Ngeri), Saliu Suleiman (Baboko), Ibrahim Murtala (Badari), Ahmed Bello Lukman (Warah Osin)
Election for Adewole ward was declared inconclusive by KWSIEC.
