Saraki’s daughter’s wedding reunites Senate President, siblings

 

Indications emerged at the weekend that the long drawn feud within the family of late kingpin of Kwara politics, Dr Olusola Saraki is over.
This is not unconnected with the conspicuous presence of Laolu Saraki at the wedding of Tosin, the daughter of the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and his wife, Toyin, in Abuja over the weekend.
Laolu, the last child of the departed Kwara’s political icon was at the high society wedding alongside his Spanish wife, Carolina.
Friends and relatives of the family were elated over the development, which is believed to show that the once lost love among the Saraki siblings had been restored though the first daughter of the family, Senator Gbemisola was not present at the ceremony, which attracted personalities from within and outside Nigeria.
Recall that the politically motivated feud had divided the family in the wake of the 2011 gubernatorial election in the state.
Gbemi’s ambition to become the state governor did not enjoy the support of her brother, who wholeheartedly supported the incumbent governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed.
The relationship was further soured after Gbemi was defeated at the polls by Gov Ahmed.
Before his death, the patriarch of the family, Dr Olusola Saraki tried to resolve their differences, just as efforts by family and friends to reconcile the siblings also proved abortive overtime.
In the same vein, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Sulu Gambari at a time waded into the issue, with the intention to reunite the two most popular children of the late Saraki.
The Senate President had to the delight of associates of the family, promised at the burial of their father to do everything within his power to mend fences with his sister and unite the family.
Meanwhile, the society wedding between Tosin Saraki and her beau, Tunde Olukoya had in attendance, dignitaries such as former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma and wife of former president. Patience Jonathan.
Also in attendance is wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, oil magnate, Femi Otedola, President, Dangote Group of companies, Aliko Dangote, state governors, Ministers, members of the National Assembly, the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion and celebrities from the entertainment industry, among others.
Meanwhile, Wave making artistes, Davido and Runtown entertained the guests.
