Tax: KAM Industries applauds KWIRS’ performance

The Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) has received accolades for its performance in the area of revenue collection, which has translated to infrastructural development in the state.

The Chairman of Kam Industries, Alhaji Kamarudeen Yusuf gave the commendation during a courtesy visit by Executive Chairman of the revenue agency, Dr. Muritala Awodun and a team of impact assessors from the University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom to the facility on Wednesday.

Kamarudeen who spoke through the Head of Business Department, Mr. Bola Awojobi said “You are using your office to seriously campaign for the good works of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed in his effort to develop infrastructures in the state.

“The underpass project at Gerin Alimi will compare to the one at Maryland in Lagos. The bright lights adorning our roads at night are awesome and revenue have contributed massively towards these projects,” he noted.

He urged the revenue boss to remain resolute when confronted with the challenges of tax collection most especially with the mono economy coming out of distress.

Yusuf, however, stressed need for management of the revenue house to give more orientation to staff on relationship with taxpayers.

He said, “There is need for more orientation on how to handle clients in accordance with the provision of relevant tax statutes to avoid intimidating clients.”

In his response, the KWIRS boss assured the management of the industry of continued relationship to boost Internally Generated Revenue in the state.

He also called on the industry to always approach the revenue agency whenever they have issues with tax staff for prompt redress.
