JAAC: Kwara 16 LGs get N1.069bn for July

 

The 16 Local Government Areas in Kwara State have shared a total sum of N884,164,201.54 billion as July allocation.
The Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Mr. Joshua Omokanye made the disclosure shortly after the Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting held at the Ministry of Finance, Ilorin on Tuesday.
He added that all categories of local government workers will receive full salaries for the month of July.
The Chairman said, ” The 16 LGs would share  N884,164,201.54 billion for July 2018, as  the  State  Universal Education Board (SUBEB) teachers got N1,069,578,645.95 billion from this month (July) allocation.
He further said that the committee also agreed that inflow of Exchange
Difference of N30,283,656.51 billion and N150,619,728.93 billion from Forex Equalisation should be shared.
Omokanye explained that the committee has agreed that all categories of LGs and SUBEB workers would receive full salaries this month.
He said that LG and the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) pensioners would receive full pensions in the month under review as the amount stood at N464,186,796.93.
He revealed that 10 per cent Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from state government stood at N453,621,236.42 and Value Added Tax (VAT) N453,621,236.42  were also shared.
He explained that the sum of N279,646,975.46 was deducted at source as repayment for the councils’ salary related borrowings from banks.
Omokanye who is also the Chairman, Oyun Local Government Area emphasised that statutory allocation for the month of July  stood at N2,196,374,385.08 as against N2,110,667,033 .06 in the previous month.
According to him, the fund was appropriated in line with law guiding the local government account which included;Teachers salary N1,069,578,645.92 ;LG and LGEA pension N464,186,796.93 among others.
Omokanye noted that the committee has agreed to earmark fund for developmental projects at the 16 Local Government Areas.
He further explained that the distribution of the allocations among the Local Government Councils in the state was done in accordance with section 4(2) of the state Joint Local Government Account Law (cap80) as amended by Law 15 of 2001.
“The fund was appropriated in line with law guiding the local government account. JAAC was assembly of 16Local Government chairmen without the inference of state government”, he stated.
