2019: Kwara Speaker visit Emir seeks royal blessing

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu- Gambari, has described the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr. Ali Ahmad as a worthy son, who has the capacity to move the State to a greater height.
The Emir made the observation in his palace, on Wednesday while blessing the aspiration of the Speaker, who sought his prayers to become the Governor of the State in next year’s governorship election.
The Speaker told the monarch that he was in the palace for royal blessing, before consultations with key Stakeholders across the 16 Local Governments.
Ahmad explained that as custodian of peace heritage and value system, the institution must be preserved by any serious government, wanting to achieve peace and stability, which he said was pivot of any sustainable development.
The Speaker whose movement was permeated with pomps and pegentry, said his aspiration was not a do- or- die affair, if the people decide otherwise, pointing out that, his experience at both national and State Assemblies had prepared him to effectively govern the state.

Special Assistant to Governor Ahmed on Youth Empowerment and House of Representative aspirant for Ilorin West/Asa federal constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Saka Babatunde has stated that the Kwara aspirants of the All Progressive Congress (APC) cannot win any political position in the state because they are not grassrooters.
He made the disclosure during an interview with this medium in Ilorin on Tuesday.
According to him, election is not a three months affair but involve preparation that takes over four years and urged the people to continue to believe in the leadership of Dr. Abubakar Saraki.
“There is nothing indicating that we have any alternative as we speak because Saraki believes in the people, in equity and justice and whosoever.
On his interest, he said “I see myself as a popular candidate and someone that can better represent the Senate President’s interest in the House of Representative.
Also, Ambassador Ibrahim Tajudeen Olesin has submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms at the party Secretariat, G.R.A Ilorin to represent Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency under PDP.
Olesin, a loyalist of Saraki political dynasty, who was received by the Organizing Secretary and Women leader, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari and Alhaja Ramat Oganija respectively, was accompanied to the party Secretariat by a large crowd.
Addressing the journalists, the aspirant said his aspiration was motivated by the desire to provide his community with adequate representation through legislation on good governance and development.
Olesin who had earlier visited the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari to seek royal blessing for his aspiration expressed optimism to pick the ticket with the support of his people and political leaders
Similarly, Mallam Mohammed Ajibola Musiliu from Akanbi Ward IV in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State has also picked his Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party to represent Ilorin South Constituency at the State House Assembly.
Musiliu who is popularly known as (MC) purchased the forms at the party Secretariat to declare his intention to vie for the Assembly seat in company of his teeming supporters, well-wishers as well as party members.
Also, former PDP chairmanship candidate at the last local government election in Ilorin West, Comrade Musbaudeen Esinrogunjo has obtained his senatorial form to contest for Kwara Central under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The APC fixed the price for the expression of interest and nomination forms for governorship and senatorial at N24.5m and N8m respectively.
Meanwhile, Esinrogunjo has led 2km good governance rally on Good Governance in Ilorin.
The rally which began from Gaa Aremu in Ilorin West passed through Adeta, Kuntu and back to Gaa Aremu.
