Lenten: Christians urged to move closer to God

As the Lenten period approaches, Christians have been charged to move closer to God in order to be blessed.
This year’s Lenten period will commence on Wednesday, with Christians all over the world expected to observe 40 days of prayer and fasting.
A Cleric, Pastor Funsho Abiodun gave the charge yesterday in his sermon delivered at the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Ilorin District Headquarters.
He further charged Christians to be prayerful and look unto God for help and divine intervention in all circumstances and situations.
Speaking on the Topic “Help from above”, Pastor Abiodun stated that God is aware and in control of all situations, calling on the people to rely solely on God to overcome all life’s challenges.
The Cleric prayed to God to continue to protect the citizens from all tribulations.
Pastor Abiodun noted that God is a miracle working God and would surprise the people by turning around the situation of the nation for good.
In his message titled ” I will do a new thing”, Reverend Jonathan Sunday Olaoye of ECWA Church, Idofin Ayekale, Kwara State, implored Nigerians to always be alive to their responsibilities as the Lord is ready and prepared to do a new thing in the country.
Reverend Olaoye charged the people to always call on God at all times for His mercy on their lives and the nation.
Speaking on the Topic “The power of decision”, Pastor Taiye Aransiola of the United Evangelical Miracle Church off Yidi road, Ilorin, explained that decision are very powerful, advising the people to always make wise and good decisions so as not to suffer regret in life.
Pastor Aransiola challenged the people to always take a stand and be of good principles.
Also in his message, Pastor Isaac Gbemiga Adesina of Kingdom Seed Assembly, Sapati Ile Phase 2, llorin called Nigerians to look unto God for help and not to trust human being that could fail at anytime.
Pastor Adesina prayed for a great calm and peace in the country after the election period.
Pastor Aremu Abioye of the Ark of God Covenant Faith Bible Ministry, Amoyo while speaking in his message to usher in its seventh convention with the theme “Jesus” admonished Christians to rely on God as He is the way and the truth.
Prophet Peter Oladipo of the C & S Movement Church, Ipetu-lgbomina appealed to Nigerians to love their neighbours as they love themselves.
Pastor Kayode Omotosho of the C. A. C . Anusogo Lorimi, Kilanko village, Ilorin, called on Christians to allow unity to continue to reign to record the needed progress.
Pastor ldowu Constain of the New Life Holy Trinity Chapel, Gaa-Akanbi, Ilorin advised the people to pray for God fearing leaders to emerge in the coming elections.
