2019: Kwara PDP goes spiritual

As 2019 general elections draw nearer, some members of the Kwara State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), converged penultimate weekend to seek divine help over the fortunes of the PDP in the forthcoming poll.

The special prayer, which took place at Karatu Compound, Alanamu area of Ilorin West Local Government was also meant to seek unity and progress in the party towards 2019.

Prominent members of the party from across the three Senatorial districts in the state attended the programme.

Although members of the state executive were absent at the meeting, the state Chairman of PDP, Iyiola Oyedepo confirmed it was held with the knowledge of the state executives.

An llorin-based Islamic scholar, AbdulMumini Ambali-Ubandawaki who led the session prayed for peace and unity among members of the party.

In his remarks, the Coordinator of the forum, Kayode Apo represented by Lai Karatu said the aim of the members for organising the prayer was to seek divine assistance to improve the fortunes of the party in the state adding that the group also serve as the voice of the voiceless youths in the state.

He said the forum would ensure that the party elders in the state speak with one voice for the progress and victory of PDP in 2019.

Recall that the crisis brewing in the state chapter of the party was renewed following the last congress that produced Iyiola Oyedepo as the PDP Chairman in Kwara State.

Prince Sunday Fagbemi who also contested for the chairmanship seat alleged that the election was not free and fair adding that there was over voting in some positions.

But, after series of petitions to the leadership of the party in Abuja to nullify the congress, the national executives affirmed Oyedepo.
