Popular singer Mayorkun has bagged a major achievement this festive season.
His debut album which he released during the third quarter of the year has hit the US Billboard chart.
The artiste who could not keep his excitement has taken to celebrating his success in a special way.
Mayorkun, whose rise to fame was steady and rather quick, had been releasing several hit singles like Eleko, Mama and Che Che only decided to release his very first album towards the end of the year.
The song titled The Mayor of Lagos was released under the stable of the record label he is signed to – Davido Music Worldwide (DMW). After the hype the album received, it was able to garner many views and approvals from the fans of the 24-year-old musician.
However, that the song would hit the Billboard chart was quite unexpected.
The album featured on the most recent list of the Billboard Hot 100. This list which is usually released on a weekly basis collates the songs that have gained the approval of the audience for a particular week. Just before midnight on November 30, the standard record chart managed by the Billboard magazine was updated, and for the week of Nov 15, 2018, Mayorkun’s album was number 15. To celebrate this achievement, Mayorkun took to his Instagram page to share the news and also thank his fans for making it happen.
