Peace Summit: Vote party with youth devt policy – Gov Ahmed

Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has urged youths to use their vote as bargaining power by voting the right candidates.
The Governor stated this during the peace summit that was attended by stakeholders in Kwara State ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
The stakeholders that include National Orientation Agency (NOA), Directorate of State Security Service (DSS), religious leaders, state government representatives and others agreed that young people should play active role in politics.
These formed part of the discussions at Kwara State Peace Summit tagged ‘Election is Not War’ organised by Kwara Youth Strategic Movement (KWYSM) held at Kwara Hotel, Ilorin last weekend.
The governor, who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Youth Empowerment, Saka Babatunde, tasked the young people to elect party with youth development policy.
He also advised them to adhere to rules and regulations guiding the electioneering process.
In his address, Director (NOA), Segun Adeyemi urged the electorate not to sell their votes during the forthcoming polls, noting that vote buying/selling is an electoral offence.
Adeyemi advised the eligible voters to fold their ballot paper properly to reduce invalid votes.
KWYSM Director of Youth Mobilisation, Mr Sola explained that the summit became necessary in order to prevent violence before, during and after the election.
