In a bid to tackle the numerous challenges confronting their alma mata, the 1993 academic set of the Government Secondary School (GSS), Ilorin, Kwara State has inaugurated committee.
The committee as its mandate, to address the numerous challenges facing the college, students and old students and ensure welfare and infrastructural development.
The Chairman of the set, Adeniran Adebisi stated this during the reunion party held at the GSS Auditorium, Maraba, Ilorin, recently.
According to Adebisi, the welfare committee among other committees have been put in place by the people to adequately address some of the challenges faced by the people and the college.
He noted that the welfare committee headed by Alaya Tajudeen would be responsible for identifying some of the graduates of the school who are in need of supports.
He said the Project Committee headed by Bello Morouf will identify important areas necessary for the set to undertake projects for the School as time goes on.
The Chairman stated that, meetings would henceforth be holding on quarterly basis by members residing in Ilorin and to be called the “Home Grown Group”.
He explained that one of the reasons for the reunion was to identify ways of assisting one another.
“To God be the glory, making it possible for us to come together again after our graduation from this great school, 25years back.
Though, it not easy getting re-connected but with the help of social media (facebook and Whatsapp) and physical efforts of some members, we are able to get to this point”.
The Chairman, however called for more unity and cooperation among the members of the alumni.
In his lecture at the event, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Oloru Rout Commander, Kwara State, Mr Amosa AbdulMumuni advised people to continue to avoid road accidents by taking to traffic rules and regulations.
Amosa who stated that adhering strictly to good driving rules is only way to avoid road accidents, observed that many autocrashes were caused by human errors.
The Rout Commander also advised drivers to always ensure that their vehicles are in good condition before putting them on the road.
