By Mumini AbdulKareemAs the deadline for the final replacement of names of governorship and House of Assembly candidates in Kwara State lapse on Saturday December 1, 2018,National Pilot has exclusively obtained the list of Deputy Governorship candidates submitted by various political parties. According to the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), parties in the state have up till Friday 12 midnight to make any final replacement on list of candidates submitted so far. All the 32 active political parties in the state, according to the list, filled the slot of the Deputy Governor in which a source in INEC said “is likely to change” before the deadline for submission. According to the source, “although there might not be changes in the list of other fringe parties, the few dominant ones in the state might still be holding discussion as their final list is expected to reach the commission from today.” The issue of who becomes the Deputy Governorship candidate has been a major tussle within the fold of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC). While the PDP zoned the slot to Irepodun in Kwara South, the APC ticket was contested by candidates from Isin, Ifelodun and Ekiti local governments. A peep through the list by this reporter last night showed that about seven females made the list while KOWA party fielded an Igbo man, one Jude Ikechukwu Clement Umeh as its deputy governorship candidate for the election. The names of the female candidates and their parties include; African Peoples Alliance (APA), Muibi Muibat Aduke, Green Party of Nigeria (GPN), Ibrahim Kikelomo Muslimat, United Democratic Party (UDP), Florence Olushola Bagbe and Hon Rose Inipe for Change Advocay Party (CAP). Others are African Democratic Congress (ADC), Zainab Ebun Olasehinde, National Reserve Movement (NRM), Mrs Oluwatoyin Joy Olukoya and Action Alliance (AA), Mrs Funmilayo Okeowo. For the PDP, the local government Chairman of Irepodun, Hon Muyiwa Oladipo was submitted while a former Senatorial aspirant from Ifelodun, Kayode Alabi made the list for the APC. Party sources who spoke on the issue last night said Oladipo was only acting as a temporary candidate pending the submission of the party’s choice among Deputy Chief of Staff to the Senate President, Gbenga Makanjuola, former lawmaker of the 7th legislator in Kwara State, Hon David Bamidele, Special Adviser on Students Affairs and Labour Matters, Comrade Bisi Fakayode, Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture and Rural Water Support Service, Hon Anu Ibiwoye and former Commissioner III in the Local Government Service Commission and immediate past Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state before the defection of the Senate President, Chief Bode Adekanye among others.
