Kwara 2019: I volunteered to step-down for Prof Oba – LP candidate, Issa Aremu

The governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Kwara State, Comrade Issa Aremu has thrown more light on what transpired between him and a gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Prof Shuiab Oba AbdulRaheem.
Aremu who spoke at the 23rd media interactive session organised by the Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) for candidates seeking political offices in the state ahead of the 2019 general elections said he initially agreed to step down for Prof Oba at a point when discussions were ongoing.
According to him, yes at a point during our discussion, I even volunteered to step-down for him (as LP governorship candidate) because of his accessibility. For us, it was all about the state and the need to do things differently going forward.
He however did not give reasons why the alliance failed to materialise.
Speaking further, the LP gubernatorial candidate said Alhaji AbdulKadir AbdulSalam remain the authentic National Chairman of the party adding that Mike Omotosho’s fraternity with the All Progressives Congress (APC) government and governorship candidate, Alh. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq while claiming to be the LP’s National Chairman, says a lot about the real situation of things.
Aremu said his administration if elected in 2019, will create factories in the 16 local councils in the state.
He also promised to raise literacy level in the state to 90 per cent and provide special cash grant for elderly persons from 60 years and above.
The economic expert added that there was the need to resuscitate moribund industries in Kwara if the economy of the 51-year-old state must pick up again.
According to him, revival of industries and companies under his government if elected will generate massive employment opportunities and increase the state Gross Domestic Products (GDP).
Aremu who said he is determined to provide service to people of the state called on Kwarans to hold him accountable if he fails to redeem his electioneering campaign.
He noted that the Labour Party’s manifesto was hinged on ‘five Ps’ which he mentioned as People, Prosperity, Popular Participation, Partnership and Peace, pointing out that his blueprint as a democratic labour governor God willing is encapsulated in his agenda.
