Fire razes shop, destroys N3m property in Ilorin 

 

A carpentry workshop in Olorunsogo area of Ilorin, Kwara State was on Monday razed by midnight fire and property worth N3m.
The fire which started at about 3am on the fateful day  has left the owner counting his loss.
The items destroyed  include  chairs, doors, spraying machines, three granders, gas cylinder and  generating set among others.
Speaking to Pilot Business, the victim, Mr.  Olalekan Idowu, said the cause of the fire has remained unknown.
He  said, “I’m a carpenter and closed for  the day’s business around 7pm on Monday after switching off all the electricity appliances, though there was no power supply.
“But,  I received calls around 3am that my shop was  on fire and when I arrived the scene I met  men from the Kwara State fire service trying to quench the fire. Unfortunately the shop had already been razed.
” I lost everything in the shop; the items worth N3 million including new sets of chairs, doors,  spraying machines,  gas cylinder, three grinders among other working tools were destroyed,” he added.
Idowu, however, appealed to the  Kwara state government for assistant to help him set up his business again, saying that he has been regular in the payment of tax to state coffers.
” I’m soliciting for assistance from  the state government as this is the only business I have to sustain my family and contribute my quota to economic development of the state,” he said.
