The Kwara State chapter of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has confirmed the receipt of non-sensitive materials from its headquarters in Abuja for the conduct of the 2019 general elections.
This is coming less than two weeks to the conduct of the poll in the state.
Speaking with our reporter last night in a telephone chat, the Public Relations Officer of the commission, Barrister Jacob Ayanda said INEC had started receiving materials ahead of the poll and assured that the commission is committed to a peaceful process of the election.
INEC’s headquarters in Abuja recently said it has commenced the distribution of non-sensitive materials to its state offices across the country.
Recall that Resident Electoral Commission (REC) in Kwara State, Alhaji Garuba Attahiru Madami has vowed to make the forthcoming election the best in the state.
According to Ayanda, ‘Well, we have started receiving non-sensitive materials like ballot bosses, envelopes and jackets among others.
‘It has been a continuous exercise which we have distributed to the various local governments and it is expected to continue in the days ahead before the election.
‘Also, we are at the various local councils to facilitate the collection of the Permanent Voter’s Card (PVCs) and this one is also a continuous exercise.
‘I can only tell you that INEC is committed to the peaceful conduct of the 2019 election across the state’, he added.
Madami has said the PVCs collection would close on February 8, 2019, one week to the presidential poll in the country.
