Kwara vehicle inspection centre for commission, March – Commissioner
The Kwara State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Aro Yahaya has disclosed that the Kwara Automated Vehicle inspection centre (KWAVIS) is set to commence operation in March 2019.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Press Secretary of the state Ministry of Works and Transport, Hajia Mansurat Amuda Kannike and made available to this medium.
According to the statement, the Commissioner stated this during an inspection visit to the centre on Tuesday, where he assured that all the automated equipment would arrive Kwara State in the second week of February.
“He said that the Kwara Automated vehicle inspection centre, when completed will enhance safety of vehicles plying the roads, reduce road crashes and safe lives.
The statement also said that the project manager Engr. Tifashe Olusola, during the inspection with the Commissioner, applauded the state government for the giant stride and unprecedented achievement in the Works and Transport sector.
“Olusola added that vehicles plying the roads, would henceforth be put under thorough inspection through the services of the KKWAVIS.
“He said that vehicles inspection would involve two categories, namely visual and machine based inspection.
“Olusola added that vehicles before certification would go through emission test, inspection of steering, horn, brake, chassis, bonnet areas and so on.”
The project, which is powered by KWAVIS is an innovation of the Kwara State Government.
On the entourage of the Commissioner were the Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of works and Transport, Alhaji Yusuf Garba Manjo, Director Mechanical Engineering, Engr Olusegun Bolarinwa and Chief Vehicle Inspection Officer (CVIO), Engr. Busari Olayinka.
