Again, EFFC nabs 6 ‘Yahoo boys’ in Ilorin

The Ilorin Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has again arrested six internet fraudsters (Yahoo boys) in the state capital, last Thursday.
The suspects were said to have been nabbed while trying to escape from the state, along airport area.
Items like cars, laptops, different types of phones and charms among others were recovered from them by the operatives.
It was gathered that two of them escaped arrest.
Confirming the arrest, the Head of Ilorin Zonal office of the EFCC, Isyaku Sharu, said the suspects are currently cooling their heels in custody, adding that they will soon be charged to court, if found guilty after investigation into the case has been concluded.
Sharu stressed commitment of the anti-graft agency to rid the state of internet fraudsters among others, vowing that any found wanting of the act will be prosecuted accordingly.
He disclosed that EFCC has secured the conviction of three young men arrested for internet fraud.
“Two of the convicts, Mustapha Sulaiman and Paul Chimezie were convicted and sentenced to one year imprisonment without an option of fine on Tuesday, 7th of May 2019 while Wale Oladoja was sentenced to three months with an option of fine of N150,000 on Monday, 6th May 2019.
“They were sentenced by a Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin presided over by Justice M Abdulgafar.
“Justice Abdulgafar passed the verdict following a plea bargain agreements entered by the convicts with the commission.”
