Crime rate low in Kwara – PPRO

The Police Public Relations Officer, Kwara State Command, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi has said the state is among the few with low crime rate in Nigeria.
He stated this during an interview with Pilot Crime in Ilorin, Kwara State, recently, adding that Kwara is one of the safest places to live in the country.
Okasanmi noted that apart from that political tension that arosed during the election period, the state has always enjoyed peace, adding that the Command is doing everything possible to ensure security of lives and property.
” As far as I am concerned, I have not received any serious complaint apart from auto crashes, in which lives were lost.
“I want to assure the public that the command is working to ensure that the state will be crime free so that residents can sleep with their two eyes closed.
“The patrol teams of the Command are always going around to ensure that the state is safe. In the course of fighting crime in the state, the command arrested three suspected robbers and they are currently been interrogated on the matter and charged to court thereafter,” he explained.
He urged members of the public to be very vigilant, saying that they should report any suspicious persons or movement in their areas to the any security agencies in the state.
The PPRO stressed that security is everyone’s business, charging community leaders to join hands with the command to fight crime in the state.
“Parents should also keep watch over their children and guide them against social vices.
” Crime fighting is not a one man show; together we face insecurity challenges and we can solve it together by giving the police appropriate information.”
