Kwara residents, motorists applaud Gov Ahmed on project

 

Kwara residents and motorists have commended the Kwara State Government following the completion and commissioning of the Geri-Alimi Underpass.
Some motorists who spoke with our reporter said the project will ensure free flow of traffic and also boost business activities in the state.
Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed commissioned the project on Monday and other 18 roads across the state.
Speaking in separate interviews on Tuesday, some of the respondents described the project as timely in spite of the fact that the tenure of Ahmed’s administration would lapsed on Wednesday.
A taxi driver, Mr Taiwo Yusuf said the project will help to ease movement of people and business activities.
He said, “I had stopped plying the Geri-Alimi route before the commissioning because I was once held in traffic for about two hours, a situation that affected my business. Today I’m very happy with the Governor as this will boost our businesses.”
Also a resident of Lao, Airport road, Mrs. Seun Frederick, said, “I have been living in this area for the past 20 years and I am of the opinion that the expansion and construction of the Underpass will improve economic activities.”
Another respondent, Mr David Adesanya, described the development as a massive boost for movement of goods and services into the state.
He said the development would make transportation of farm produces such as yam and vegetables f less stressful.
In his response, a civil servant, Mr. Joshua Olarewaju said, “The commissioning of the project has brought respite at last to me and my boss in the office will no longer complain of my lateness at work.
For, Mrs. Ijeoma Nweke a banker, she said, “I reside at Airport area and normally wake up around 5am and by 6:30am I leave for work to beat the Gerin Alimi traffic. But now I can wake up 6am and still get to work on time because the road is free from traffic now.”
