Part of the statement read, “we implore the state government to pay last year outstanding salaries amounting to 180 per cent.

“The financial backing of 2014, 2015 and 2016 promotion and restoring of annual increments.”

Also, NASU sought the release of funds for accreditation, repair of buildings damaged by the recent rain storm and prompt payment of salary.

The statement further stated that despite non-payment of May and June 2017 salaries, salary of April 2018 was received on 28th of May, 2018 with no information on when that of May will be paid.

NASU added that it will be difficult for staff to pledge their commitment if salaries are irregular.

The union urge government to do the needful as it does not consider strike as the best option to press home their demands.
