The Nigeria Security and civil defense corps (NSCDC) Kwara state command has arrested 1,200 suspects for various crimes committed in the state since January, this year.
This was disclosed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayeni Olasunkanmi during an interview with our reporter in his office, recently.
He enumerated the crimes committed by the suspects to include pipeline vandalisation, phone theft, trespass, unlawful grazing, public disturbance among others.
“The suspects were arrested for various crimes between January and August, this year. Some of the suspects have been taken to court, some of the cases have been settled amicably while some others are still under investigation.
“Among the suspects are more than a hundred herdsmen, who were arrested for destroying farm produce.
“The command also arrested some people for civil unrest, some of the miscreants disturbing the peace of the communities such as Oja Oba, Sango among other places.
“100 suspects were arrested over land disputes with some taken court while others have either been settle amicably or undergoing investigation,” he explained.
