A man, Alhaji Ojo Bashir and his son, Hakeem were last Tuesday abducted at Yakoyo area of Kwara State.
The duo were returning from a journey to Benin Republic when the incident happened.
It was learnt that the father and son had travelled to the neighbouring country to participate in an annual prayer before the unfortunate incident.
This medium further learnt that, the duo were released 24 hours apart after the sum of N2million ransom was paid by their relatives on Wednesday.
Narrating his experience to our reporter via telephone interview, Ojo saiid himself and son were abducted at about 8:30pm on the fateful day.
“My son and I were kidnapped by gunmen somewhere around Yakoyo near Offa, our home town. I was driving my Toyota Camry at the time.
“The car a Camry pencil was abandoned by the kidnappers to avoid being traced.
“They led us into a very thick forest. We were blindfolded and beaten severely. We really suffered in the hands of our abductors.
“They contacted our relatives and demanded for N10million ransom. Our relatives pleaded with them to collect N1.5million and later paid one million naira to them.”
He added that the kidnappers later collected additional N1million. “After my relatives paid the money, we were freed and dropped at an unknown place at about 4pm.
When contacted, the state police spokesperson, SP Ajayi Okasanmi denied knowledge of the incident.
