Police arraign 3 men for armed robbery

The trial of three suspected armed robbers, who allegedly robbed their victims of motorcycle among other things, is set to hold today, Monday 31st of August, 2021.
The police have earlier arraigned the three accused men before the Magistrate Court in Ilorin on Friday on charges bordering on armed robbery.
The three accused, Abdullahi Sheu, Mohammed Kuri and Bio Atiku, all from Fulani extraction and cattle rearers were arraigned before, Magistrate Ibrahim Dasuki, of the Magistrate Court in Ilorin the Kwara state capital.
According to the First Information Report obtained by National Pilot, the trio were charged with criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and causing grievous hurt, which contravene Section 6(B), 1(2) of Robbery and firearms (special provision) Act Cap R11 LFN, 2004 and Section 250 of Penal Code.
The suspects were arrested by the men of Gwanara divisional police at Baruten local government area of the State before they were transferred to the state CID in Ilorin for thorough investigation.
The arrest was made after a complain was lodged at the station that the victims Sanni Kazeem of Kubure Village, Saliu Abdulraheem of Gwanara Village and another man were robbed by the suspects on the 4th of August 2021 at about 8:30pm.
Report has it that the victim’s were attacked at a point between Bukuro and Bwen Villages after the suspects double-crossed the victims with their motorcycle.
They also cut-off one of the victims, (Saliu AbdulRaheem) cheeks and hand with machete leaving him with a deep injury in his face and hand, Sanni Kazeem also got amputated at his left wrist.
Thereafter, the suspects were said to have made away with the victims unregistered Bajaj motorcycle valued at around N320,000 and their respective travelling bags which contained clothes and other items.
National Pilot learnt that the suspects were arrested, after they were seen wandering in the late hours, along Bukuru/Bwen route on a motorcycle on the 5th of August at about 11:30pm.
They were picked up by the security personnel when they were unable to give satisfactory account of themselves.
Upon the investigation by the state criminal investigation department, CID, the trio of Abdullahi Sheu, Mohammed Kuri and Bio Atiku were affirmed to have criminally conspired and attacked the victims with machete and robbed them of their valuables.
