In this chat with JIMOH SULYMAN, Barrister Yusuf recalled one of his most memorable moment in court. Excerpt.

Well, I will say all the experiences I have had in court are all memorable, but one I could remember vividly was during a criminal case I handled as a prosecutor, it borders on criminal conspiracy and cultism.

While I was prosecuting this particular case before. My lord, Hon. Justice Mr. Gafar of the state high court, I wanted to make an oral submission to my Lord.

In law when making Oral submission in final address to the court, a counsel is expected to cite an authority as a reference and more so to back up his stand.

Of which in my own case, I was just making submission to the court, without citing any authority, I totally forgot .

After I was done with my submission, My Lord, the Honourable justice Gafar cautioned me of repeating such, He said to me, “Mr. Yusuf next time you should remember to cite an authority”, I was totally caught off guard.
