The security of the state has yet again experienced a relapse as local chief in Ilorin the Magaji of Erubu, Dr Oba Erubu was kidnapped in the late hours of Thursday.
Ilorin born Medical doctor, Dr Oba Erubu was the Medical Director of Fadima Hospital located along Balogun Fulani area, Ilorin.
According to a family member, the brother of the Magaji, Mr Umar Erubu while speaking to National Pilot confirmed the unfortunate incident that the retired permanent secretary was truly kidnapped .
He disclosed that the Magaji of Erubu was abducted at his residence gate after he left his office along Ago Oja, Afon, Asa Local Government area of the state.
“He was returning from his office to his country home in farm village at Ago in Afon of Asa local government area, in his usual manner, he press his car horn to notify him children of his arrival.
“when the children later open the gate and he was about driving in into the compound, the hoodlums jumped in out of nowhere shooting sporadically, they riddled the car if the victim with bullets.
“He was dragged down from the vehicle, without his shoes and was whisked away into the sunset,” Umar disclosed.
He however noted that no one was injured in the process as everyone have scampered for their dear lives.
Umar also confirmed that the assailants are yet to reach out to the family, saying that, “They haven’t contacted us up till now but we hope he comes back safe”, he said.
The kwara state police command has however confirmed the kidnapping of Dr Erubu. According to the command’s spokesman, ASP Ajayi Okasanmi, the state’s commissioner of police has ordered immediate investigation into the kidnapping and get the monarch rescued.
“The kidnap incident is confirmed, the commissioner of police, CP Tuesday Assayomo has ordered a discreet investigation, rescue and arrest of the Kidnappers immediately he got the information”
