Kwara 2023: We’re not afraid to compete against other regions – Dabarako Mohammed

Courtesy demands that we Kwara Northerners should produce the next Governor and we have met with the stakeholders through out the state and no one faulted our cause, it is Normal for people to want to compete.
“We have appealed to stakeholders in other part of the state and those that matter that we met with reasoned with us, but I think the onus is on us to produce a credible candidate, someone that will be acceptable to everyone in the state, so we’re working towards that.
“The Kwara North cannot independently achieve its aim without the backing of the Kwara Central.
“It is not possible, we need ourselves, even in line with the Nigerian constitution, it doesn’t matter if you have the majority of the population in order to win an election, you need to have certain amount of vote from every component region in a political set up.
“We need ourselves and the only way we can do it is to appeal to ourselves in the spirit of justice and equity
“Everyone have a right to their opinion, they have the right to say what they want and we have the right to say ours
“We’re not afraid to compete against other regions, we will try to unite the entire state, the region is not at loggerheads with any part of the state, we’re fine with other people coming to compete against the region in the coming election.
“The whole state can unite to elect any credible candidate regardless of where the person comes from, there is nowhere in the entire nation where producing a governor will be one sided, even when Adamu Attah competed, people from Kwara Central supported him and he won, same as Shaba Lafiagi, he enjoyed the support of people from all over the state.
“When Bukola Saraki came, people from all over the state unanimously voted for him, with no recourse to where he came from.
“We are not afraid to compete against the incumbent, when Gov Lawal was the incumbent, He was defeated by Bukola Saraki and nothing happened, if destiny says, nothing can change it.
“Our main objective is to work to see who we can present, that will appeal to all the three regions in the state, we’re being quiet for a reason but ours is to see who is credible to take the banner.
“We want someone that will be acceptable to all the districts, not someone that will be out of control, thinking he came to power through his own means and we don’t want a vengeful person that may cause conflicts among the senatorial districts.
“We are offering prayers to almighty God, to give us such a person, someone that won’t oppress other regions and wouldn’t let ours be oppressed, a unifier that will unite the whole state”, he assured.
“The entire Kwara North is suffering, their is nowhere in the entire region where you can find a 10 kilometre tarred road, if you go to places like Baruten and Kalama, you will cry for them.
“We believe if we have our own governor, there will be an improvement and fair play whereby dividend of democracy will be shared judiciously.
“The stakeholders from the region are meeting together and making consultations to all those that matter, those that will decide, those who have followers not those that only make noise and act condescending.”
