University of Ilorin also known as better by far university since its inception in 1975 has been blessed with visionary leaders who have laid a solid foundation for the university which has remained the most sought after for ten consecutive years.

Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole’s tenure is no exception as he has followed through the blueprint laid by this pack of eggheads and greatest leaders of the university. His tenure as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin has been nothing short of exemplary. In his one year in office, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and has made significant contributions to the institution.

He envisions the 1-10-500 which outlines his vision for the university. The vision 1-10-500 means that the University of Ilorin remains number 1 in Nigeria,10 in Africa, and 500 in the world.

However, his one year in office coincides with the 37th & 38th convocation ceremonies where over 25000 graduands both undergraduates and postgraduates will be receiving their certificates having been found worthy in learning and character.

One of Professor Egbewole’s key strengths is his vast experience in academia and legal practice. With a distinguished career spanning several decades, he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. This has been evident in his ability to effectively manage the university’s affairs and make informed decisions that benefits all stakeholders.

Under his leadership, the University of Ilorin has witnessed commendable advancements across various areas. Professor Egbewole has prioritized academic excellence and has implemented measures to enhance teaching and research standards. He has encouraged a conducive learning environment that fosters innovation and critical thinking among students and faculty members. This has manifested in some of the awards and laurels won by some students of the university. Some of the academic staff have also been listed as best researchers in their various fields of endeavors.

Furthermore, Professor Egbewole has placed a strong emphasis on enhancing infrastructure and facilities at the university. He has initiated and overseen numerous projects aimed at improving the physical infrastructure on campus. These efforts have resulted in the construction and renovation of state-of-the-art lecture halls, laboratories, and student accommodation facilities.

Another noteworthy aspect of Professor Egbewole’s leadership is his focus on community engagement and social development. He has actively sought collaborations with local communities, businesses, and government agencies to foster mutually beneficial partnerships. This has not only enhanced the university’s reputation but also contributed to the overall growth and development of the region.

Moreover, Professor Egbewole has prioritized staff welfare and professional development. Additionally, he has encouraged continuous training and capacity building, enabling the university’s workforce to stay updated with the latest advancements in their respective fields.

In his one year in office, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole has proven himself to be a visionary and dedicated leader. His passion for education, commitment to excellence, and proactive approach have positively impacted the University of Ilorin. It is evident that he is the quintessential Vice-Chancellor, and his tenure holds great promise for the institution’s future success.
