Thousands Defy Heavy Downpour To Register As Kwara PDP registration Exercise Records Massive Turnout

Despite the heavy downpour in Ilorin, on Saturday, Kwarans showed remarkable dedication to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) by turning out in large numbers to register and revalidate their membership. The turnout underscores the party’s growing appeal and the determination of its supporters to be part of the political process, even in challenging weather conditions.
While addressing the party members during the exercise, the chairman of the Ilorin West Local Government of the People’s Democratic Party , (PDP) Hon. Abdulkadir, stated that the massive turnout of residents for the party’s membership registration and revalidation exercise despite the torrential rainfall is a clear indication that Kwarans have lost confidence in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration.
“The massive turnout of people here today despite the rain is a clear indication that kwarans are fed up and have lost confidence in the APC government led by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. Together, we will rescue our dear state from the grip of incompetence and mediocrity. We are determined to reclaim power in the state.” he said
He however urged the party faithfuls to take advantage of the exercise in ensuring the party’s success in the upcoming election in the state.
“All bonafide PDP members should take this advantage seriously because we want to ensure our party’s success and claim what belongs to us. With this massive support, we are confident of the party’s victory in next election coming up in the state.” he affirmed
The Kwara State chapter of the PDP had earlier flagged off its membership registration and revalidation exercise across all 16 local government areas of the state, setting the stage for what party leaders describe as a “grassroots-driven movement” toward reclaiming power in 2027.
Speaking during a press conference held at the Kwara PDP’s Secretariat on Pipeline Road, Ilorin, the State Chairman of the party, Rt. Hon. Babatunde Mohammed, said the registration campaign was a response to the “growing calls from patriotic Kwarans who are eager to be part of the #RescueKwara Project.”
The exercise, which will take place in all 193 wards of the state, is open to both new members and existing ones who wish to update their records and obtain permanent membership cards. The party has deployed trained registration officers to all ward registration centers to handle both new and returning members.
Mohammed emphasized that the party is committed to ensuring a smooth, transparent, and worthwhile registration process.
“Our ward and local government registration officers have been trained and equipped with the necessary tools and materials to carry out this exercise effectively and efficiently. We are confident that the system put in place will ensure a smooth, transparent, and worthwhile registration process,” he noted.
