By Ahmed Ajikobi
The Imam Imale of Ilorin, Abdullah Abdulhammed has charged politicians in the country to make welfare of the masses their priority anytime they are in position of authority.
He made the statement on Monday at the workshop on AL-Khatab: ‘Its role, importance and Methodology’ organised by Madrasat Mahshar Al-Huda Islamic Centre for all the Imams at Islamic Village, Ilorin West local government.
Abdulhameed said if the welfare of the masses is taken care of, life will be meaningful to everyone.
He however appreciated the organisers of the workshop adding that they should do more for the Imams especially those at the grass roots, according to him; this will allow them to play their rightful roles in the society.
“I want this organisation to focus on the Imams who normally lead the Jumat prayer and the community Imams,” he said.
Imam Imale said, most of the clerics cannot play their roles according to the will of God because of the economic situation in the country stressing that most of the Imams who don’t have any means of livelihood may be easily lured by moneybags in the society.
He called for support of clerics from all well-meaning Muslims for the development of Islam.
In his remarks, the Initiator of the organisation Prof. Abdulkareem Yusuf appreciated the guest speaker for the lecture. He however enjoined Muslims to work assiduously in order to develop the religion of Islam.
