The crisis-riden Kwara state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may receive the caretaker committee set up by the Senator Ahmed Makarfi led National leadership, Pilot Politic gathered last night.
Towards this end, the committee has summoned the Iyiola Oyedepo and Prince Sunday Fagbemi’s factions for a meeting this week.
This is coming following the dissolution of party excos in seven PDP states, recently including Kwara.
A highly placed source in the party who confided in this medium said the Makarfi-Led executive is already making progress on the issue and might conclude it anytime from now for the state to get its committee.
But, Chief Rex Olawoye, the Iyiola Oyedepo faction Publicity Secretary, confirmed that the meeting may be focusing on selecting those that will represent the party at the caretaker position pending the time crisis brewing the party is over.
He said, “Some of our elders have left for Abuja just to iron out the differences between the two factions of the party in the state, if that is not done early enough, it means we won’t to go and disgrace ourselves in the poll and I think the issue of constituting caretaker committee for Kwara is paramount in their hearts.
Those attending the meeting from Oyedepo’s camp are; Isiaka Oyedepo, Lola Ashiru, Senator Simeon Ajibola, LAK Jimoh, Prof Oba Abdulkareem, Mooshud Alaka, Bio Ibrahim, Ibrahim Monko, Shehu Salami, Hajia Gani.
In the same vein, Olawoye noted that his faction has instituted legal action against the Makarfi-led leadership of the party, challenging the dissolution of the state executive committee of the party.
He added that suit was filed by the human right activist, Femi Falana before the Abuja Federal High Court.
“The court will give us date for the hearing of the matter this week. The court is on vacation, they can’t attend to any matter now unless it is special. All what we need to do now is to is to apply for accelerated hearing which we’ve done. Once the matter is settled, the party will have time to concentrate on the local government polls,” he said.
