Kwara APC chair, BF Ishola and his double sobriquet

 

Very few people in the political circle are aware the Kwara State All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Hon Ishola Balogun-Fulani was given two nicknames during his tenure as a member of the Kwara State House of Assembly.
Well, for being a funny character and an active lawmaker, Hon BF Ishola, who was the majority leader of the 6th Assembly was nicknamed Lafia and TomTom by colleagues.
Anytime, Balogun-Fulani takes the floor, his humorous contributions consistently spawned laughter and hailing from his colleagues, thereby making the session rowdy. To restore normalcy, Hon BF will tell his colleagues Lafia, Lafia (meaning cool down).
In addition to his Lafia cognomen, the APC chairman was nicknamed TomTom because he never stopped licking the candy during session and outside the Assembly complex.
Hon Balogun Fulani remains the only lawmaker so honoured with two nicknames since the return of democracy.


Indiscipline: Unilorin VC knocks Don at Ilorin airport

The new Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Prof. Sulaiman Abdulkareem Age is one administrator who does not condone any form of indiscipline from anyone not even his allies.
At exactly 8:49am last Wednesday, the new VC turned back a yet to be identified lecturer at the entrance of the arrival hall of Ilorin International Airport over unassigned job.
After Hours gathered that the lecturer who wore a white agbada was at the airport to receive the Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Ilorin, Dr. Abdullahi Jibril Oyekan (MFR) without being assigned such role.
Oyekan was to grace the 33rd Convocation of the university as the Chief Host.
The Governing Council chairman arrived in an Overland aircraft and the Vice Chancellor who also came to receive the visitor coincidentally met the lecturer at the entrance of the arrival hall. The lecturer exchanged pleasantries with his principal who in turn asked him, “What are you doing here?” In response, the lecturer said he came to receive the Governing Council Chairman and the VC asked angrily, “who assigned you?” The lecturer kept mute and the was ordered by the VC to return to the campus. The lecturer immediately turned back and left the airport.


Ex-Harmony FM presenter, Kolawole accused of intellectual theft

The decision of Temitope Kolawole to seek ‘greener pasture’ may have earned him the wrath of his former employer, Harmony FM.
Recall that Kolawole, who is famous for his sonorous voice on the widely accepted newspaper review programme on Harmony FM, tagged; Okodoro Oro joined Sobi FM, a few weeks ago.
The presenter who now co-anchors the wave making Feli-Feli, with Femi Oparinde, Jolade Jolaoluwa (JJ Jabulani) and Olaniyi Aweda on Sobi FM was accused of selling the idea of newspaper review to his new employers.
Kolawole however exonerated himself of any wrongdoing maintaining that Sobi FM had conceived the idea before he was offered employment at the radio station.


Lagos school where tyres are used as chairs in classroom

The shocking pictures of a school in deplorable condition in Lagos, have gone viral on social media causing negative reactions.
A Facebook user, Olufemi Olanrewaju who shared those pictures identified the school as Oke Odo Junior College, Abule Egba, Oke-Odo LCDA, Lagos State.
He wrote: “My people is this a classroom or a dustbin? This is Oke-Odo Junior College in Abule Egba, Oke-Odo LCDA, Kudos to the Chairman of the LCDA or shame to him?”
